Igunbor want's Uche for Falcons
Former Nigerian player, Okunwa Gift Igunbor has said Eucharia Uche is the best choice for the vacant head coach position in the Super Falcons.
Uche was replaced as Falcons' coach by Kadiri Ikhana, who recently resigned his appointment after a woeful outing at the 8th African Women's Championship in Equatorial Guinea.
Igunbor said the duo of Uche and the head coach of Eko 2012 women's team, Ann Agumanu-Chiejine will restore the misfiring Falcons to their pristine position in Africa.
"Men coaches have been failing us, coach Jossy Lad failed us in 2008 at Equatorial Guinea and now Kadiri Ikhana.
"Eucharia Uche took us to South Africa in 2010 and won the AWC title, she was sacked on flimsy excuses of inexperience.
"I make bold to say she is the most ably qualified coach to step into the vacant shoes of Kadiri Ikhana. Ann Agumanu-Chiejine is equally most qualified for the Falcons' job. You need to see the wonders she is performing with the Lagos festival women's team, the Eko women's football team.
"Women are ripe for the position, the excuse of inexperience is no longer tenable. We have over 50 qualified (women) coaches in the land, they should be considered for the job.
"We need to copy the practice in other lands. Women are in-charge of the women's teams in England, Germany, Sweden, among others," said the former Super Falcons and Ufuoma Babes' lethal finisher to supersport.com.
Igunbor derided the clay-footed Falcons for lowering the standard set up by their predecessors.
"These crop of players shouldn't be addressed as Super Falcons because the real Falcons won't lose the AWC title.
"Things have gone wrong with the team, we need a good coach, a women's football coach of substance to bring back the winning mentality," said the former Rivers Angels' hit woman.
