Barclays English Premier League club, Chelsea are set to offer Nigerian midfielder Jon Obi Mikel a new four-year deal.
The Nigerian midfielder, 25, has been at Chelsea since 2006 and has been a pivotal figure in the Blues’ line-up.
Having won the FA Cup and Uefa Champions League last season, Chelsea see the holding midfielder as a key player to their success.
Mikel has won the Premier League, four FA Cups, The Community Shield and the Uefa Champions League from his time at Chelsea.
Having been at Stamford Bridge since 2006 and with his new deal set to expire in 2017 – it is in Mikel's intentions to become a Chelsea legend.
Mikel’s current deal expires next summer - but his agent John Shittu revealed that both parties are keen to continue their alliance.
“Mikel is one of Chelsea's most consistent performers and the club agrees with us he deserves a new and improved contract – he has a year left and Chelsea have decided to add four more years to it,” Shittu said.
Chelsea are rumoured to be ready to reward Mikel with a new four year deal worth £90,000 a week.
