Eguavoen, Gwar claim May bloggers award

Enyimba head coach, Austin Eguavoen and Niger Tornadoes' striker, Sibi Gwar have won the May edition of Manager and Player awards for Nigeria's top flight.

The monthly award for the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) is organised by the Naija Premier League Bloggers Award, a franchise owned by Naijapremierleague.net, Naijaligue.blogspot.com and Naijafootball247.com.

Eguavoen clearly finished ahead of other managers in the May edition after leading his team to an unbeaten streak in five matches including tough games against Kano Pillars and Enugu Rangers.

Winner of the Manager award for February, Okey Emordi of Enugu Rangers came closest to winning a second award by finishing second as his team lost just once in May.

Three players – Sibi Gwar, Dele Olorundare of Sunshine Stars and Gift Atuliwa of Warri Wolves – were in the running for the Player for the month of May until the Tornadoes’ man nicked it.

The trio scored three goals apiece but Gwar featured in less number of games than Atuliwa and Olorundare and two of his goals helped Tornadoes take three points against Warri Wolves and Akwa United.

Eguavoen was presented with his award in Ilorin on Matchday 32 when Enyimba suffered a shock 1-3 loss to ABS on June 13.

The monthly award by Naija Premier League Bloggers Award has been on since the start of the ongoing season.
