Rising Stars bask in Niger victory

Rising Stars' manager, Sunday Erelesusi is a satisfied man after his wards edged visiting Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in matchday 31 tie at Ado-Ekiti.

Yahaya Adamu's 36th minute goal separated both side in the high tempo game that saw a 44th minute rebound goal by the Minna-based side top scorer, Sibi Gwar disallowed as offside.

The three points have taken struggling NPL newcomers' point haul to 32 from possible 87 and slightly away from the basement.

Emphatic that the victory was well deserved, Erelesusi told SuperSport.com the win is a massive boost in their escape battle from the drop.

"We out-played Niger Tornadoes and actually deserved to win.

"I praise my players for standing up to the stiff challenge of the visitors, it was a high tempo game.

"The victory is a further boost in our efforts to escape relegation.

"The confidence of the players is coming back and if it continues in the next few matches we'll be talking of better positioning at the end of the season."

Rising Stars will be the guest of Akwa United in mid-week's matchday 32 and Erelesusi is positive his wards will earn at least a point from the encounter.

"Akwa United are beatable in Uyo and that is the spirit we're taking into the game.

"We'll give it our best shot and chance a win or draw," he said. Reply Reply to all Forward
