Emenike dagger finishes Zenith



Emmanuel Emenike was the outstanding Nigerian performer in Europe at the weekend as his 83rd minute strike helped Spartak Moscow defeat champions, Zenith St. Petersburg at Petroksky.

In the Netherlands, Michael Uchebo has been impressive for VVV Venlo this season and the former Enugu Rangers forward scored again at the weekend as the ‘Good old’ defeated FC Twente 4-2 at the Seacon Stadion.

England (Barclays English Premier League)

Shola Ameobi came on as a late substitute for Newcastle United in the big game against Manchester City at the Sports Direct Arena. The striker’s contributions were infinitesimal as the Geordies capitulated to a 0-2 defeat to the Citizens.

At the Reebok Stadium, Peter Odemwingie was not listed as West Bromwich Albion drew 2-2 against Bolton Wanderers.

Taye Taiwo was part of the Queen’s Park Rangers’ side that edged out Stoke City 1-0 at Loftus Road thanks to a late Djibril Cisse goal.

Dickson Etuhu was left out by the Fulham Manager, Martin Jol as the Cottagers won 2-1 against Sunderland at Craven Cottage.

Belgium (Belgian Pro League)

Joseph Akpala was introduced as an 88th minute substitute for Club Brugge in their 1-1 draw against Anderlecht at the Stade Constant Vanden Stock.

Germany (Bundesliga)

Chinedu Obasi was not listed for Schalke 04 as his team won 3-2 at Werder Bremen to seal UEFA Champions’ League qualification for next season.

Anthony Ujah was on the FSV Mainz bench for all 90 minutes in the club’s 0-3 loss at home to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Italy (Serie A)

Christian Obodo spent all 90 minutes on the Lecce bench as the club went down at home, 0-1 to Fiorentina.

Joel Obi was part of the Inter team that recorded a thrilling 4-2 victory that over AC Milan tat San Siro hat effectively ended the title-defece of the Rossonerri.

The Netherlands (Eredivisie)

Russia (Premier League)

Victor Obinna was on for an hour as his side, Lokomotiv Moscow battled to a 2-2 draw at Dinamo Moscow.

Obafemi Martins was not listed by the Rubin Kazan Manager, Kurban Berdyyev as they went down to the big-spending, Anzhi Makhachkala.

Scotland (SPL)

Omatsone Aluko was on for Rangers in their 0-0 draw against Motherwell at Ibrox.

Spain (La Liga)

Kalu Uche was on the RCD Espanyol bench as he watched his teammates received a football lesson at the hands f FC Barcelona as the Catalans raced to a 4-0 victory at the Camp Nou.

Granada blew a great chance to defeat the champions, Real Madrid on Saturday as they went down 1-2 at the death.

Odion Ighalo spurned a great chance to score for the home side early on in a gripping game at the Nuevo Los Cármenes.
