Akpeyi sure of Eagles' shirt
Super Eagles' goalkeeper, Dan Akpeyi is positive he will pick a shirt in the team's international friendly against Peru in Lima on May 23.
Eagles' manager, Stephen Keshi invited 26 domestic players but has voiced out that only 17 will add up to the five foreign-based players named for the encounter.
Akpeyi who made the cut for last month’s friendly against Egypt in Dubai, UAE told SuperSport.com that he is determined to give his best in training so as to get the coaches' nod.
"In my third coming to the Super Eagles, I'll try my best to meet the coaches' expectations. The coaches are sincere persons, they don't drop players because they are not good but simply that they can't take everybody at the same time.
"I'll do my best believing that it will be good enough to earn me a place in the team," the Heartland goalkeeper said.
The Heartland goalkeeper said Eagles will give the Peruvian side a good fight.
"Eagles won't disappoint against Peru, we the locals will use it to further cement our names in the minds of Nigerians.
"Our target is an outright win, at least, to serve as a strong notice for our Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers," he said.
Super Eagles will use the Peru friendly to prepare for the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Namibia and Malawi on June 3 and 10 respectively, and 2013 Afcon qualifier against Rwanda on June 17.
