Ganaru targets top spot

Head coach of Kano Pillars, Mohammed Baba Ganaru is in bullish mood going into the Matchday 19 game against Kaduna United at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Pillars suffered a 0-1 loss to champions, Dolphins on Matchday 18 leaving them third on the log with 29 points, three points adrift leaders, Enugu Rangers.

However, Ganaru told SuperSport.com that their last game in the first round against visiting Kaduna United is a rare chance to wrap up the half-way mark as leaders.

"We lost three points to Dolphins at the weekend, we must get it back from Kaduna United.

"We want to end the first stanza with victory and then go into the second stanza with more ambition. And we can regain the top spot with a win and wide goal margin.

"Our rival teams at the top, Enugu Rangers and Enyimba are on the road to Jigawa Golden Stars and 3SC respectively. We must give the Kaduna United tie our best shot," Ganaru said.

Ganaru, who said there is no injury worry among his wards, insisted that Pillars will leave no stone unturned to winning the league shield.

"The players are fit for the tie against Kaduna United, no injury worry among the players. We're not leaving anything to chance, we're united in this project to make Pillars champions once again," he said.
