It was a great weekend for Nigerian stars in Europe at the weekend.

Victor Anichebe came off the bench to score an important goal for Everton in the Barclays English Premier League while Chinedu Obasi scored his first goal for Schalke 04.

Joseph Akpala ended his goals drought for Club Brugge with a well-taken brace against Beerschot while Super Eagles' captain, Joseph Yobo weighed in with a rare goal for Fenerbahce in Turkey.

Belgium

Moses Adams was restored to the Westerlo line-up but his side went down 1-3 to Zulte Waregem at the Regenboogstadion.

Joseph Akpala scored a first half brace for Club Brugge who thumped Beerschot 5-1 at the Jan Breydelstadion.

England

Sammy Ameobi came on as a late substitute for Newcastle United as the Geordies defeated Aston Villa 2-1 at SportsDirect Arena.

Dickson Etuhu played the first 68 minutes before being substituted by the Fulham manager, Martin Jol as they suffered a 0-3 defeat in the hands of the leaders, Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Victor Anichebe scored for Everton, two minutes after coming on as an 81st minute substitute as the Tofees drew 1-1 at Wigan Athletic who had Nigeria’s Victor Moses on for 90 minutes.

Osaze Peter Odemwingie was on for all 90 minutes for West Bromwich Albion in their 1-2 home loss to Swansea.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni is still out serving a ban and in his absence, Blackburn Rovers suffered a 1-7 hiding at Arsenal.

France

John Utaka was not listed as HSC Montpellier beat Stade Brest 1-0 at the Stade de La Mosson.

After picking up a red card last week, AS Rennes’ Onyekachi Apam was better behaved as his side drew 0-0 against AS Nancy at the Stade Maarcel Picot.

Germany

Chinedu Obasi scored his first goal for his new club Schalke 04 while Anthony Ujah watched on from the bench for Mainz in the 1-1 draw at the Veltins Arena.

Italy

It was an afternoon to forget for Joel Obi and his Inter Milan teammates as they received a 0-4 bashing from AS Roma at the Stadio Olympico on Sunday.

Chris Obodo watched from the Lecce bench in the 2-2 draw with Bologna.

The Netherlands

Uche Nwofor and Michael Uchebo were both part of the action for VVV-Venlo who lost 1-3 to Excelsior at Woudestein.

Spain

Kalu Uche made his debut for Espanyol, coming on as an 82nd minute substitute as the Catalans drew 3-3 at Athletic Bilbao. His assist during the game ensured that Espanyol secured a point in this game.

Turkey

Michael Eneramo was on from start to finish for Sivasspor in their 5-1 triumph at Mersin Idmanyurdu at Tevfik Sirri Gür.

Super Eagles' captain, Joseph Yobo grabbed a rare goal for Fenerbahce who defeated Besiktas 2-0 in the big game of the weekend at Sükrü Saraçoglu.
