Caf inspects Champions League venue

A delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) football has arrived Port Harcourt to inspect facilities of Dolphins ahead of this year’s Caf Champions’ League.
The delegation will inspect facilities at the Sharks FC Stadium, the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium and the Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex.
Acting General Manager of Dolphins, Dumbor Awanem revealed that members of the delegation arrived in Port Harcourt on Friday.
“They (delegation from Caf) arrived in Port Harcourt on Friday morning and have proceeded on the inspection as I speak to you,” Awanem told SuperSport.com.
The club administrator said he was confident the facilities would be given a pass mark by the officials of Caf.
“We are confident the facilities we are presenting will be good enough for the Caf inspectors. They are all state-of-the-art facilities and we are confident they will give us the go ahead to host matches at the venue,” he said.
Dolphins will meet Equatorial Guinea side, Sony Ela de Nguema in the first round of the Caf Champions League on the weekend of February 17.
“The Port Harcourt club will travel to Malabo for the first leg on the weekend of February 17 and take on the Central Africans in the return leg, two weeks later.
Dolphins represented Nigeria in the Caf champions’ League in 1998 and 2005.
