Nigerian telecom giant courts Hearts
SuperSport.com has learnt that former Ghana Premier League champions Hearts of Oak are in closed-door talks with Nigerian telecom giants, Glo, for a prospective deal.
The company, expected to roll out today, are said to be actively discussing a sponsorship deal with Hearts in the immediate future. The club, which celebrated its centenary last year, played Nigerian outfit Rangers of Enugu in a game which was said to have been facilitated by the telecom company.
Although Hearts are sponsored by MTN at the moment, that deal ends shortly and indications are that there would not be a renewal. Glo derives much of its network strength from the massive backbone support it receives from Glo 1, the high capacity state-of-the-art submarine cable which berthed in Ghana in 2009 and was commissioned last April.
