Nigeria face Korea in Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s Flamengoes will open their quest at the Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday against the Democratic People’s Republic (DPR) of Korea, the title holders, and it will be broadcast live on SS4 from 10.45pm (CAT).

Coach Peter Dedevbo’s team will be seeking to start the championship on a high by denting the ambition of their Korean counterparts to begin their title defence on a strong note.

Nigeria pulled through an African qualifying series with a flawless performance but come up against a Korean side that demonstrated intimidating power in front of goal during their Asian qualifiers for the Under-17 Women’s World Cup. They scored 18 goals in four games.

The West Africans will not want to be intimidated by such stats and coach Dedevbo will be hoping that the likes of Ngozi Okobi, Oluchi Ofoegbu, Francisca Ordega, Ebere Okoye and Ugo Njoku can help post an upset on Sunday. At the same time, the Nigerians must keep tabs on Korea’s duo of Kum-Jong Kim and Son-Hwa Pong, both capable of causing harm to their ambitions of a good start.
