Pirates, Chiefs, Downs get minnows

Defending champions Orlando Pirates will take on minnows eThekwini Coastal FC in the first round of the 2012 Nedbank Cup after the Last 32 draw was made on Monday.

Bucs will take their array of stars to KwaZulu-Natal for the start of their title defence, and hope they are not meeting this season’s ‘Baroka FC’, the Vodacom League side who made it to the semifinals in last year’s competition.

Kaizer Chiefs also have minnow opposition as they are home to Cape Town All Stars, while Mamelodi Sundowns are away at Powerlines FC.

There are just three all-Premiership ties to be played as Maritzburg United host Bloemfontein Celtic, Moroka Swallows entertain BidVest Wits and AmaZulu will welcome Ajax Cape Town.

There will also be a Witbank Derby as Mpumalanga Black Aces host Witbank Spurs.

National First Division side United FC will play the winner of the preliminary tie between Gauteng’s Vardas FC and one of the Eastern Cape duo of Umthatha Liverpool or A1 Stars FC, with those matches still to be played.
