Ndlovu edges Roses to victory over City

In Wednesday’s only NFD action, Roses United picked up all three points with a 2-1 win away to Polokwane City, thanks to Sandile Ndlovu’s winner.

Roses went a goal behind, but came back to level the game through Godfrey Makauta, the sides going to the break locked at 1-1.

It was then left to former Dynamos and Moroka Swallows marksman, the well travelled Sandile ‘AK47’ Ndlovu, to seal all three points for the Free State team with his second half strike.

The result has enabled Roses to open up a four point gap between themselves and the relegation zone, where Polokwane City lie in 15th place, but with five games in hand.

Its been a tough first season for the NFD rookies from Bloemfontein, but club CEO Philip Ramabodu remains hopeful they can turn their season around – in their two previous games since the restart, Roses drew 0-0 with Jomo Cosmos and then shocked African Warriors 4-2.

“You can see we are a team that is finding form, we are starting to get results, and we can’t complain about anything.

“Things are looking up and today’s result was an excellent one – to travel away in the NFD and to pick up maximum points is not something easy – the boys showed great character to bounce back from a goal down,” he told PSL.co.za.

There will be more NFD action over the weekend, starting with the Santos v Sivutsa Stars game on Friday night.
