Ariweriyai to stay at Santos

Santos have re-signed Nigerian centre-back Pere Ariweriyai for the 2012/13 NFD season.

The Cape Town club will be campaigning in the National First Division (NFD), but have managed to persuade Ariweriyai to stay on and help them win promotion back to the top-flight.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at the club from AmaZulu, but with his deal with Usuthu having now come to an end, he was a free agent.

He had agreed a permanent move to Santos in principle when he arrived on loan, and both parties have now decided to he will remain at the club.

Ariweriyai played for The People's Team in a 2-2 friendly draw with SuperSport United at the Athlone Stadium on Wednesday.

He arrived in South Africa ahead of the 2005/06 PSL season, making his debut that year for Platinum Stars.

A move to AmaZulu followed soon afterwards and the centre-back made over 100 starts for Usuthu before his exit for Santos at the start of last season.
