Ex Bafana stars move to NFD

Two former Bafana Bafana internationals have had their flagging careers rescued by being offered contracts in the National First Division after failing to pick up a club in the top flight.

Mokete Tsotetsi, who was on Kaizer Chiefs books just three seasons ago, and giant striker Ndlovu have landed contracts with teams in the second tier of South African football.

Ndlovu, who was appeared for South Africa three times in early 200, has moved to Cape Town to join NFD newcomers Chippa United.

He has penned a contact until the end of the season. The 31-year-old forward is best known for his goals at Dynamos and finished the 2004/05 season with a tally of 20. He also played at Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows and Bloemfontein Celtic.

Ndlovu has told reporters he sees it as a chance to revive this career after being without a club last season.

Tsotetsi, who won a cap in the World Cup qualifiers against Sierra Leone in 2008, has signed for struggling Mpumalanga Black Aces on a one-year deal.

The 29-year-old had been relegated with Vasco da Gama last season and did not have his contract renewed.

His new team mates include veterans David Kannemeyer, Edward Williams and Martin Carelse, who are all also seeking to keep alive their careers in the NFD.

Other former PSL regulars hoping to restart their careers are at Dynamos, who recently signed Richard Rantjies, and bottom placed Witbank Spurs, who have picked up former Platinum Stars fullback Joseph Mkalipa.

On Thursday, the NFD’s other freshly promoted side Sivutsa Stars handed a lifeline to former under-20 international Michael Nkambule. He was once on the books at Chiefs and described as a potential ‘new Ace Ntsoelengoe” although failed to live up to expectation.
