Downs injury woes ahead of MTN8
Mamelodi Sundowns have a few injury concerns ahead of their MTN8 semifinal clash against Moroka Swallows scheduled for Saturday, live coverage on SS4 with live streaming on supersport.com at 8:15pm.
Attacking midfielder Lebohang Mokoena was sent home on Friday after coming down with flu, while striker Eleazar Rodgers strained his right hamstring, which will likely rule him outy of contention for the Swallows clash.
The pair joins a long list of injured players such as Alje Schut, Doctor Mampuru, Walter Maponyane and Jabulani Shongwe.
Mokoena will be disappointed to miss the match as he had a good pre-season and a goog start to the 2012/13 season. ‘Cheese’ found the back of the net in his first match of the season against Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 quarterfinal match.
Rodgers, Mampuru and Maponyane are expected to be out for a few days as the three players are still under treatment for hamstring-related injuries.
Shongwe is also under treatment for a strained quad and is expected to be out for a few days as well. Schut is still also out injured.
Meanwhile, the club announced that striker Katlego Mphela’s rehabilitation was “coming along quite well and the player is doing light training to work on his fitness”.
