Doutie looks to erase 2009 Arrows horror

It was at the Orlando Stadium on the night of October 24, back in 2009, when Sameehg Doutie suffered a serious football humiliation with his teammates. This is a memory that the speedy winger says he would like to erase on Saturday night in the MTN8 final when Orlando Pirates take on Kaizer Chiefs.

Doutie and his former teammates at Ajax Cape Town were hammered 6-0 from a rampant Golden Arrows side, ironically in the MTN8 final. The winger, who now plays for the Buccaneers, was quoted on the club’s website as saying that he hopes it will be second time lucky.

“Eish, how can I forget bra? I still remember that night as if it was yesterday. I was looking forward to helping my team lift the MTN8 trophy but we lost and I ended up with a silver medal. Now that I am in the final again, I am hoping for a case of second time lucky as I want nothing less than the gold medal this time around,” he told Orlandopiratesfc.com.

However the Mitchell’s Plain-born star knows very well that it’s going to be a major climb as Chiefs will definitely be going all out to avenge the two early losses in the Vodacom Challenge as well as the inaugural Carling Black label Cup.

"Saturday’s match is going to be tough; more so because it’s a derby cup final. This is one game that is unpredictable, so history counts for nothing. We know what Chiefs is capable of but we are more focused on us, concerning what we want to achieve and how to go about it to ensure that we deliver on the night and make our supporters happy,” he added.
