Wanderers dislodge Silver

Mighty Wanderers have toppled Silver Strikers from the summit of the 15-member TNM Super League after beating rookies Kabwafu United 1-0 in a first round match played in old capital, Zomba last weekend.
Alfred Manyozo Junior stabbed home the lone strike that stretched Wanderers tally to 13 points, one point ahead of Silver who were not in Super League action over the weekend.
Silver, who have slipped to the second slot on 12 points, were concentrating on Presidential Cup game which they lost 3-1 to Big Bullets at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Sunday.
In Lilongwe, Civo United climbed a step up from fourth to third also on 12 points after a goalless draw with Blantyre United in the capital, Lilongwe on Sunday.
In the northern region city of Mzuzu, last season’s runner up, Escom United finally got it right in registering their first win, beating Moyale Barracks 1-0 on Sunday.
Escom, who have been struggling since they off-loaded some 10 key players, still remain bottom on five points from six games. The Malawi league is now in its seventh week.
