Moses expects three points
Nigeria Super Eagles attacker Victor Moses has declared that getting three points against Malawi in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier is not optional.
Speaking to SuperSport.com upon arrival at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre late Friday afternoon, the Wigan Athletics player said the mood in the Super Eagles camp was positive.
“The last time Nigeria came here won and we will also be hoping for a repeat. We want to get the three points, of course we know it is not going to be easy but we feel will do the job,” he said.
Moses also dismissed talk that the current squad is not good enough compared to the class of 2003 that beat Malawi through John Utaka strike.
“There are some players who are not in the squad but we have quite a lot of talented players who are very dedicated to represent their country Nigeria. It is wrong to say we are not good enough,” he said.
Commenting on last week’s slender 1-0 win over Namibia, Moses said he felt the Super Eagles played well but can improve on finishing.
“We had the chances against Namibia, we will be taking the chances and try to get an early goal against Malawi,” he observed.
Nigeria has never lost to Malawi and will be seeking to build on that record.
The Super Eagles lead the group on three points, while Malawi and Kenya who drew 0-0 last Saturday, are on a point each. The Brave Warriors of Namibia anchor the table.
