Ochomo delighted with scoring start
Ulinzi Stars striker Wycliffe Ochomo has expressed his delight at scoring the lone goal in their 2013 Kenyan Premier League [KPL] opening match against Bandari last Sunday.
The former Gor Mahia forward struck in the 46th minute to give the Soldiers the victory. Speaking to the club’s official website, Ochomo said he was happy to secure the three points for the former KPL champions.
“We wanted to start the league positively and winning our first match was very key. I am happy that I have begun the league on a scoring note and I do not want to stop here,” said Ochomo.
“I aim at becoming one of the top league scorers at the end of the season as well as helping my team win at least one title. We can make it because we have a very good team and a good coach as well.”
Deputy skipper and goalkeeper Jacktone Odhiambo was also happy with his Man of the Match performance that kept the rookies at bay.
“I put a target of reducing the number of goals I concede as well as keeping more clean-sheets. This is the first one and I intend to keep more,” he said.
“The most important thing, however, is that the team won and we started the league on a good footing. Our intention is to be consistent in the games that follow. It is a long season and we want to keep good results throughout.”
