Tusker coach pleased with win

Tusker FC coach Robert Matano is happy but cautious after the Brewers’ big win in the Seychelles in the Caf Champions League.

Having fumbled at a similar stage last season, the men in yellow did not waste time in hitting their opponents St Michel 4-1 in a preliminary round in Port Victoria.

David Ochieng was on the mark with a brace while Micheal Olunga and Andrew Sekayombya were also on target as the KPL champs scored a come from behind win. An obviously happy Matano was full of praise for his players but resisted the urge not to look ahead.

“It was a good win for us, a strong display. What was even better was that we came from behind to collect the win and away from home. We played well from start to finish and deserved the win,” he said.

“There could have even been more goals for us but we will take the four. It is a happy moment for all of us and the country too,” he added.

Matano, though, was all about looking forward, despite the big win.

“Despite the score, we are not yet through to the next round. We still have to play them at home and ensure we finish the job. “From then on, we have tough challenges to tackle, so it is a good start for us. We can celebrate for now but we have to move forward,” he said.

If they go through, Tusker will face current champions Al Ahly in the first round of the competition.
