Oliech brace lifts Kenya over Libya

Skipper Dennis Oliech notched a brace as Harambee Stars registered a commanding 3-0 win over Libya in an international friendly played in Tunisia on Wednesday.

Stars started the match like a house on fire firing with wave after wave of attack against the Libyans and were rewarded with a spot kick in the fifth minute.

Oliech opened the scoresheet converting the resultant penalty. The forward who recently moved to Ligue 1 Ajaccio continued with his superb form scoring his second with a blistering shot that beat the Libyan keeper all the way in the 13th minute for a 2-0 lead.

On resumption the Libyans came back strongly but the Kenyan defence remained steadfast.

Stars wrapped up the win on 78 minutes through Paul Were’s clinical finish.

It was a big win for Kenya who are ranked 127th in the Fifa world rankings over a country currently 47th.
