Mukaisi signs for Rangers

Former Tusker FC striker Dennis Mukaisi has signed for Division one side Posta Rangers.

The striker had been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in the current transfer window but has instead chosen to join Rangers.

Rangers, relegated from the top flight last season, are looking for a quick way back up and are keen to sign experienced players to help them do so. According to club chair Yobesh Ongeri, Mukaisi falls in that category.

“We have agreed terms with Mukaisi and he will play for us in the 2013 season,” he said.

“A good player he is, having played for a number of top clubs in the country, and his quality is what we are looking for. The main requirement is that our players do not have contacts but full time employment and Mukaisi has been handed a job by the Postal Corporation. He will be useful to us as we look forward to a strong season,” Ongeri said.

Rangers had also wanted Charles Okwemba and Victor Ochieng, both currently at AFC Leopards, to join the club as they are employees of their parent sponsor and Ongeri said that they are still in talks.

“Our sponsor recognises that the two have contracts with AFC Leopards. However, they are employees of the corporation so are and should be committed to their work place,” he added.

“For now, we do not have a clear way of dealing with it but we will by the time the transfer window closes. They are players that are important and can give us quality, thus we are keen to have them here, but we will wait and see,” he added.

Rangers are trying out a number of players with Premier League experience as they move towards the start of the season.
