Defensive duo back for Thika

Thika United have been boosted by the return from injury of defenders Francis Chege and Dennis Odhiambo ahead of the 2013 Kenyan Premier League season.

Chege, a centre-back, and former Kenya international left-back Odhiambo, were both sidelined by long-term complaints.

Chege missed the whole of the 2012 season with knee ligament damage, while Odhiambo sustained a calf problem in May while on national team duty as the Harambee Stars were preparing to take on Malawi in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.

Both players expressed their delight to be back in contention.

“I am happy that the injury is now a thing of the past. I am working to improve on fitness and I am looking forward to a great season. I am well motivated.”

Odhiambo said: “When you are out with an injury it is never a good feeling but it is a greater relief when you come back and regain fitness. It is cool to be back and I look forward to an injury-free season and also a return to the national team. I know it will not be easy but I undertake to work hard in training and in competitive matches to fulfil that.

Thika finished fifth in the standings last term.
