Coach Ali settles in at Ulinzi

Ulinzi Stars head coach Salim Ali, who took charge at the team in December 2012, is happy with the progress made by his squad so far.

Speaking after his team was held to a 1-1 draw by Division One side Bidco United in a friendly match played on Thursday 24 January, Ali said that in the time he has been at the team has been in a position to tighten a few loose ends.

“We have already set up a team and all we are working on now are the strategies that will see us start the league on a high. I am confident with the strength of my players and I am sure they will help the team reclaim the title lost in 2011,” said Ali.

In the Thursday match, after a barren first half, Ulinzi opened the scores in the 46th minute through a Wycliffe Ochomo strike.

Bidco found their way back into the match in the 54th minute, with Oscar Musa capitalising on a defensive lapse to even the tally.

Ulinzi, who finished the 2012 season ranked sixth in the first-tier league, have been camping in Nanyuki since Tuesday 22 January, and is expected to stay there for at least two weeks.
