Sofapaka snap up Echesa
Ex-Harambee Stars and Tusker midfielder Hillary Fordy Echesa has signed a two-year contract with former Kenyan Premier League champions Sofapaka.
Echesa returned to the country late last year following a stint with Malaysian top-tier side MPM Johor FC.
According to Sofapaka’s team manager Jacques Roberto, the experienced Echesa put pent to paper in December before attending trials in Asia.
“We offered Echesa a two-year contract in December and released him for the Middle East trials. Unfortunately the deal fell through and now he is back in the country,” said Roberto.
“I think Echesa is a superb replacement for Mieno [Humphrey], whom we loaned out to Azam. Just like Mieno, he is an experienced and intelligent player and I am pretty sure he will add value to the team.”
Prior to his move to Batoto Mungu, the well-traveled Echesa plied his trade with the now defunct Mumias Sugar, Nzoia Sugar, Simba SC, Yanga, Polis de Raja Malaysia and Deltras Sidoarjo.
Echesa has become the eighth player to join Sofapaka in the off-season following the acquisition of Obadiah Tarumbwa, Collins Kisuya, Patrick Kagogo, Kennedy Oduor, Enock Agwanda, Salim Shitu Abdalla and Charles Ouma.
