Logarusic explains Azam snub
Gor Mahia coach Zradvko Logarusic has explained his reasons for snubbing Tanzania team Azam who had requested for a friendly match this week.
Logarusic said that Azam did not use the right mechanism to get the friendly on and that his training regime had to be respected.
"Gor is a professional club and any team that wants to play a friendly match have to give prior notice in a professional manner and Azam did not follow this as they just called abruptly and said that they wanted a friendly because they will be in Kenya. I have a training programme that must be respected and any team that wants a friendly should follow the right approach," Logarusic told supersport.com.
Logarusic also took time to defend his pre-season training programme that had been criticised ahead of their continental match in February.
"I had a 14 day training programme that will see my team play Sony Sugar, the Charity Cup and Tusker in the DStv cup before playing our Seychelles opponents. Those people that are trying to compare us to other teams pre-season are wrong as I have my way of doing things. Last year Gor Mahia played over 10 matches in pre-season but what were the immediate results?” Logarusic posed.
"What is important is not the length of the pre-season but the results when the league and continental matches start that is when everyone will know if I was right or wrong," Logarusic added.
Gor Mahia will play against Anse Reunion of Seychelles on February 16 before starting their league campaign three days later.
