Miheso set for SuperSport trials

Thika United winger Clifton Miheso is set to soon attend trials with South African Premier Soccer League side SuperSport United after landing an invite last week.

The player, who has been active both for his club and the national team, will be assessed by the Nedbank Cup holders over a month-long period.

Thika’s official website confirmed that the player will be leaving the country shortly to link up with the Tshwane-based outfit.

“The player has been invited for trials and preparations are underway to facilitate the call. We as a club are very happy for the boy and we wish him all the best,” said Thika team manager George Maina.

Miheso played a crucial part in his club’s performance last season, helping them secure a creditable fifth-placed finish in the Kenyan Premier League standings behind champions Tusker FC, Confederation Cup entrants Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and former champions Sofapaka FC.

The attacker, on target four times for Thika last term, was also a key performer for James Nandwa’s Harambee Stars Cecafa Senior Challenge squad that managed to reach the final of the event towards the end of 2012.

Miheso will become the third player from Thika to travel to South Africa after Charles Bruno and fellow midfielder Francis Kahata. Thika defender Dennis Odhiambo has also had a stint with South African top tier outfit University of Pretoria.
