Ocholla wins Ulinzi award
Former Kenya international midfielder Stephen Ochola has been named Ulinzi Stars’ player of the year from the recently concluded 2012 Kenyan Premier League season.
The club held an awards ceremony at the Midlands Hotel in Nakuru this past Friday.
Despite suffering an injury at the close of the 2012 season, Ochollah, who was also voted the second best midfielder of the year at the 2010 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) awards gala, was rewarded for the role he played in the team.
Harambee Stars hopeful Evans Amuoka walked away with the top scorer’s award after netting twelve goals last term. Jacktone Odhiambo successfully defended his goalkeeper accolade, while creative midfielder Chester Okoyo did the same in his respective position category.
Kevin Ouma, who had a splendid season, received the defender’s prize, while goalkeeper James Saruni was named the most disciplined player, with John Apolo picking up the chairman’s award.
