Abdalla confirmed as KCB coach
Juma Abdalla has been confirmed as the new KCB head coach after a vigorous week of interviews at the club’s offices.
The experienced former Congo United, Thika United and Bidco United trainer has taken over from Omondi, who was fired a month ago due to the side’s mediocre showing in the Kenyan Premier League.
The bankers team manager Josphat Okal has revealed Abdalla has penned a one-year contract with the team.
“Abdalla will serve as the head coach and has signed a one-year contract with us, starting Thursday this week. He is already preparing the team for the 2013 season by selecting the squad that he wants to work with,” said Okal.
“The major task ahead is to finish up with the trials that had been suspended after the former coach left the club last month so that he can pick the players himself,” added Okal.
Abdalla spent his first day with the trialists on Thursday and will continue with the selection process till Saturday at the club’s grounds in Ruaraka.
The bankers have also hired Edward Odhiambo as Juma’s deputy, with him also penning a one-year deal with the team.
KCB finished the recently concluded season in tenth spot in the standings with 39 points.
