Imbem signs for Vietnamese side

Former Gor Mahia forward Itubu Imbem has joined Vietnamese top-tier side Dong Nai FC on a one-year contract.

Confirming the news, Itubu said he was very happy with the move and hoped to make an immediate impression in South East Asia.

“I’m very happy to have succeeded in my trials. To me it’s a dream come true and I will work hard to make an impact in this team,” Itubu said.

“I wish to thank Gor Mahia for trusting in me and giving me the opportunity for the great club. I had a very nice time and I wish them good luck in the upcoming season,” he added.

Itubu was also quick to point out that his stint in the Kenyan Premier League had prepared him and he was ready for the new challenge.

“Right now I’d say I’m in the form of my life and it’s all thanks to the time I spent in Kenya. The league was very tough and now I know I’m very much capable of playing in the Vietnam League,” he said.

Dong Nai was recently promoted to the top-tier, the V-League, from the first division.

Itubu was one of five players that were recently axed by Gor Mahia. The others are Kevin ‘Master’ Ochieng, Oscar Mbugua, George Midenyo and goalkeeper Wycliffe Kasaya.
