Miheso gets Stars call up

Thika United winger Clifton Miheso has been called up to the Harambee Stars squad that is currently in camp in preparation for the CHAN qualifier match against Burundi on Sunday.

Miheso replaces Paul Were, who was among the five players recruited from the squad that recently returned from Uganda where they finished second in the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

Confirming the latest development, assistant coach James Nandwa, who will act as head coach for CHAN assignments, said Were could not make it to camp in good time so they opted to replace him with Miheso.

“Were travelled with his family up country after arriving from Kampala and will therefore not be able to join camp soon,” Nandwa said.

“We settled on Miheso as his replacement and he has already joined camp. The only concern is that he has a slight injury that he suffered in Uganda but I’m sure it will be healed before we leave, he added.

Miheso was in fine form for the Harambee Stars in the CECAFA Senior Challenge and also for Thika United in the 2012 Tusker Premier League.

Full squad:

Goalkeepers: Duncan Ochieng and Boniface Oluoch.

Defenders: Abdallah Juma, Edwin Wafula, George Owino, James Situma, Eugine Asike, David Ochieng and Chris Wekesa.

Midfielders: Anthony Akumu, Osborne Monday, Francis Kahata, Charles Okwemba, Clifford Miheso and Andrew Tololwa.

Strikers: Kiongera Mungai, Wesley Kemboi, Edwin Lavatsa, Moses Arita and Ismail Dunga.
