Sofapaka snap up three players

Former Kenyan Premier League champions Sofapaka have snapped up three players after holding trials as part of their preparations for next season.

The club, top tier champions in 2009, attracted 28 players during a two-week trial, with three players being deemed good enough to earn a spot in the squad for the 2013 campaign.

Sofapaka coach David Ouma, speaking after a friendly match against a Nairobi Provincial League side, said the trio, who he declined to name, impressed him on a number of technical aspects.

He also confirmed that the team will be breaking for Christmas holidays until Monday 7 January.

“The trials were very successful and after this friendly match I can confirm I have selected three from all the players who came for trials – two locals and one foreigner. They really impressed me on a tactical point of view and I am looking forward to adding them to the team next year,” he said.

“At the moment we will be going off for a month or so for the festivities then resume early in January. The return date has been set for the 7th. At that time I believe my transfer activity will be finalised,” he added.

Sofapaka finished fourth in the league standings this year.
