Nandwa named Michel’s assistant

Kenya U23 coach James Nandwa has been appointed as Harambee Coach Henri Michel’s assistant following his achievement at Cecafa tournament.

Nandwa led the second string side to the final of the competition.

A statement from the federation has confirmed of the development that puts the saga surrounding the senior team technical bench to an end.

“Coach James Nandwa officially appointed as Henry Michel's assistant immediately after he lead the development side to the finals of the Cecafa Tusker Cup on Saturday.”

Kenya is scheduled to play Burundi in the CHAN qualifiers scheduled for 16th December in Bujumbura.

The team that will face Burundi will comprise of local-based players with the exception of those who featured in the regional tournament as echoed by FKF Chairman Sam Nyamweya.

“The boys played well and reached the final. But they have to rest. They will not be included in Michel’s squad for Afcon. We have a team already.”

Nandwa was incharge of Rangers in the just concluded season in which they were eventually relegated from Tusker Premier League and has had stints at clubs like Karuturi Sports and Tusker.
