Mariga elated with comeback
Kenyan midfielder Macdonald Mariga could not hide his joy when he made a comeback to competitive football in Inter Milan's 1-0 win over Palermo on Sunday evening.
Mariga has been sidelined for the last eight months having succumbed to a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury and Mariga described the last eight months as very tough.
Milan coach Andrea Stramaccioni handed Mariga his first league appearance of the season but the Kenyan could not fashion a second goal as Inter held on.
"I want to thank God for this great miracle and my recovery as it has been an eight months of pain and suffering but am now relived and so happy to be back in actions .It has not been easy at all as it has been months of hard work as I tried to recuperate from my injury that took so long. I am excited to be back in action and I want to work hard and return to my form," an elated Mariga told supersport.com.
Mariga made history as the first ever Kenyan and East African to win the champions league while playing for Inter Milan where he was signed by current Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho.
