Wanyama shortlisted for Caf award
Harambee Stars defensive midfielder Victor Mugubi Wanyama has again has been shortlisted as a nominee for Africa’s most promising talent category during this year’s Confederation of African Football (Caf) football awards.
Wanyama has caught the eye of African coaches who were involved in the nomination exercise for his contribution and scoring vital goals for Cletic where he has scored six goals so far, including the opening goal against Barcelona in the Champions League.
He will battle it out with two other candidates including 20 year old Egyptian Mohammed Saleh recently signed by Swiss side Basel. He was the main destroyer of the Kenyan U20 team that was humiliated 5-0 by the Junior Pharaos during the return leg of the Africa Youth Championships at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The other nominee is 19 year old Senegalese Moussa Konate whos exploits in the London Olympics scoring five goals caught the eye of the selectors he has now joined the Senegalese Senior team and playing club football for Russian Club F.C Kransador.
“Football Kenya Federation is deeply honored to have Victor nominated to this list,and its an inspiration to other Kenyan players,” said chairman Sam Nyamweya.
