Gor out to retain FKF Cup

As Gor Mahia prepare to take on Sofapaka in the final of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup, on Tuesday, assistant coach John Bobby Ogolla says he has a good feeling his team will impress.

According to Ogolla, Gor Mahia had targeted a treble this year and even though they missed out on one cup, they are still planning to add further silverware to their collection.

“We have come so far in the cup and it would be unfortunate for us to lose it now. It was painful for us to lose the league title at the last hurdle and we would not like to go through the experience again,” said Ogolla.

For the final, which will kick off at 1900hrs, the club’s head coach Zdravko Logarusic has recalled defender Christopher Wekesa, meaning Musa Mohammed is demoted to the bench.

The rest of the team is the same as the one that knocked out AFC Leopards in the semi-finals of the tournament on Saturday.

Starting XI: Ivo Mapunda, Christopher Wekesa, David Owino, Ivan Anguyo, Donald Mosoti, Anthony Akumu, Joseph Njuguna, Kevin Omondi, Dan Sserunkuma, Rama Salim, Moses Odhiambo (capt).

Subs: Wycliffe Kasaya (gk), Yusuf Juma, Moses Otieno, Ali Abondo, Musa Mohammed, George Midenyo, Edwin Lavatsa.
