Gor battle Leopards in cup semis

Two giants of Kenyan football Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, face off on Saturday in the first semifinal of the 2012 President’s Cup.

The showdown will present the third time the teams lock horns this year. Gor Mahia has the edge over AFC Leopards, having picked up four points from their previous two meetings in the recently concluded Kenyan Premier League season.

Recent form also points favourably to Gor Mahia. Going into the game they have managed a run of 19 matches unbeaten in the league, while they also already have a trophy in their cabinet – the Top 8 Cup won earlier in the season.

The allure of continental football could be a key driving force in the game since the winner of this tournament will qualify to compete in next year’s Confederations Cup tournament.
