Mungai tipped for Stars' call up

Harambee Stars development side and KCB striker Paul Mungai is thought to be close to a Harambee Stars senior team debut despite being left out of the recently named squad.

According to KCB assistant coach Peter Ambetsa, the player has now come of age and has proved himself through the season for the club.

“Mungai is Harambee Stars material and his call up is long overdue for a fact. The player has done an excellent job for the club and the national development side,” said Ambetsa.

The youngster netted a brilliant goal for the national development side in July this year during their match against Botswana at the Nyayo National Stadium. He has also been instrumental in leading a comeback for KCB in the closing stages of the season.

They finished the term on a high beating former champions Ulinzi Stars 2-1 in the last match of the campaign last weekend.

“I believe that there are lots of great things awaiting him in the near future since he has shown a lot of determination on the pitch,” added Ambetsa.

Mungai, a Kenyatta University student, netted 11 goals for the Bankers this recently concluded season – the sixth highest tally in the league.

He is expected to feature for his tertiary institution during the East Africa University games to be held in neighbouring Tanzania in January.
