Bandari aim for top eight

Newly promoted Kenyan Premier League side Bandari FC are preparing for a return to the Kenyan top flight after one season out and the team’s coach Rishadi Shedu has revealed their plans.

The side has for some time now been linked with former Gor Mahia and Sofapaka midfielder Collins Okoth, but the coach has confirmed there is no chance they will be signing him after the player declared the move did not appeal to him.

Shedu, however said the dockers are still keeping tabs on want-away Sofapaka defender Abdulatif Omar, whose contract with Batoto Ba Mungu comes to an end in December.

“We no longer have Okoth in our plans. He was a key target to our season in the premier league but I think it is now public knowledge that a move to Bandari is not appealing for him. In the circumstances, we can just wish him the best as we shift our focus elsewhere,” said Shedu.

“We are, however, still pursuing his former team mate Abdulatif Omar for another stint here. At the moment there are a few issues to be cleared out here and there but I can confirm he is in our plans. We will resume training on 3rd December and hopefully by then he will be one of us.”

The dockers secured promotion two weeks ahead of the final round of matches in the Division One Zone A league. They finished with 82 points.
