Coach Koops staying optimistic

The 2012 Tusker Premier League title is within AFC Leopards’ reach, according to the club’s head coach Jan Koops – who counts on fate to deliver the title to them.

“If both Gor Mahia and Tusker fail to win their last matches and we win ours (against Chemelil Sugar FC), we shall take home the title,” said Koops.

“We have not counted the title as lost and we are working hard to further improve our chances.”

Of the upcoming match, Koops said that they are aware that Chemelil will come out stronger than they were in the first leg, but added that his charges are committed to win the match by any means necessary.

“The match will be a derby of sorts and since we need a win more than our opponents, we cannot afford not to make any mistakes. This is especially in the knowledge that Chemelil is a strong team in its own right and will obviously line-up their finest players for the match,” he added.

“We are currently working on strategies to help us counter any tricks that Chemelil may have up their sleeves come match day and at the moment I can confirm that we are almost done with our preparation.”

The match will be played on Saturday 10 November at the Awendo Green Stadium, with Chemelil playing hosts.
