Wanyama hails magical night

Kenyan international midfielder Victor Wanyama was lost for words as he tried to describe his delight after his team Celtic beat favourites Barcelona 2-1 in a Champions League clash on Wednesday.

Wanyama who scored the first goal with a thumping header could barely describe his joy.

"I can’t even believe it. I am simply overwhelmed and thank God for everything as no one had forseen our win against Barcelona. This is the best time of my career," said Wanyama.

Wanyama who was in superb form gave praise to his teammates and the technical bench led by manager Neil Lennon saying they had put themselves in agreat position to qualify for the knock out stages.

"I still can’t believe what happened and the goal I scored for my team. I want to thank God for this special occasion and also would like to praise my colleagues for the resilience and hard work not forgetting the technical bench and our very passionate fans who stood by us throughout the encounter."

"Barcelona is one of the best teams in the world with exceptional players and to beat them is another massive milestone that does not come easy. I hope we continue with the same spirit in our remaining matches," Wanyama told supersport.com.

Wanyama is expected back in Nairobi on Monday November 12 to join the Harambee Stars squad that will be preparing for an International friendly against Tanzania's Taifa Stars in a match to be played in Mwanza Tanzania on the 14th.
