Omino congratulates Homeboyz

In the face of rivalry and an upcoming new derby in the Tusker Premier League (TPL) next season, Western Stima coach Henry Omino has lauded cross town rivals Kakamega Homeboyz on sealing their promotion to the Kenyan top flight.

Omino says the Premier League new boys will inject some fresh competition in the league and the region but admits their promotion is not a threat to the tenth placed TPL side and hopes the friendship between the two sides’ players will grow even more.

“They are a strong team and have done really well this season, their promotion is well deserved and I would like to take the chance to welcome them to the league as our brothers,” he said.

“They will bring in some new form of competition in the league and the region which is good and most importantly they add quality to the top flight.

“Their feat is not a threat to us in any way, I know we will grow together in this game. I expect them to be friends with us like we have always been; the derbies should be friendly and players should get along well with one another.”

“If they keep up with the disciplinary standards and hard work, they will be in the league for long. I trust in (Fred) Serenge’s leadership and management abilities.”

Omino’s son, Ronald Omino, who once earned a call up to the Kenya U20 national team, plays for the newly promoted side.
