Gor to face Thika at City

Saturday’s league encounter between leaders Gor Mahia and Thika United will be played at City Stadium.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) had recommended that the game be moved to Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani due to security reasons, but the club has stuck to its guns at having the match at its home venue.

Through a press conference held on Thursday, the officials confirmed that they will play at their fortress, when they face their opponents in the Milk Derby.

“City Stadium is Gor’s home venue and that is where the match will be played. Everything is in place for that and the match will take place there as planned on Saturday at 1500hrs,” said David Kilo, the club senior vice chairman.

But fans will have to dig deep in their pockets if they are to attend the match that will decide who wins 2012 TPL.

“We have increased the ticket prices. The VIP will now be Kshs 600 while terraces will be Kshs 300. This is our last match and the logistics that come with it, gives us no option but to increase the entry charge,” said club secretary George Bwana.

Gor Mahia are currently on top of the log with 58 points, a point ahead of Tusker and AFC Leopards who differ on goal difference. A win over Thika will see them crowned champions for the first time since 1995.
