Chemelil Sugar has sent coach Edward Manoah on compulsory leave following recent dismal performances.
Club chairman Robert Nyakundi told supersport.com that they had been forced to the decision after a poor run of results that has seen the club win one match since April.
“We have decided to send the coach on compulsory leave. I can’t say for how long since it’s until further notice. We have a performance contract with him and he needs to go and re-examine himself now and come back rejuvenated.”
“The team was in the top five during the first leg of the season and the draws registered have worsened our standings. Our target was clear, performing very well and not draws, now that we can’t achieve our target we want to finish Top 8.”
Assistant coach Mike Muiruri has been appointed the interim coach and will lead the club against Sony Sugar, Muhoroni Youth, Thika United and AFC Leopards in their remaining matches.
This comes days after Chemelil’s barren draw with Karuturi Sports which sees the team placed 10th on the log with 33 points.
Chemelil has won one and drawn six in their last seven league matches.
