KCB overpower Rangers
KCB eased to a 3-1 win over bottom placed Rangers FC at City Stadium on Monday.
Mungai Kiongera scored one and set up another as the bankers recovered from last week’s 2-0 loss to Tusker to claim all three points and move to tenth with 30 points while Rangers stay bottom with 20 points.
KCB have had a typical see saw second half of the seasons but they were off to a flier at City going ahead after 40 seconds through Mungai’s smart finish to establish an early lead.
The goal put them in their stride and not even a downpour could dampen their spirits. They went 2-0 on the half hour mark after Rangers keeper Victor Omondi could only parry Mungai’s left wing cross straight at Edwin Mwaura who knocked in the rebound.
Rangers however halved teh deficit almost straight from the restart through Baldwin Ngwa who raced onto a through pass and beat Sammy Okinda in the KCB goal.
The bankers were in rampant mood and they restored their two goal cushion on the stroke of halftime. Peter Wainaina’s cross was nodded on by Mwaura and Geoffrey Maina lashed in a cracking volley to make it 3-1.
The hosts continued to dominate proceedings in the second half and should have made it 4-1 ten minutes from time when substitute Jacob Keli was fouled but Kiongera’s spotkick hit the crossbar.
