Injury blow for City Stars defender
Nairobi City Stars defender Francis Akang’o faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being diagoned with hairline fractures on both his shins.
An X-ray scan revealed some harsh news for the player though, as it indicated that he has been carrying fractures on both his tibia for some time now.
This revelation threw the player aback, as it might keep him out of action for most of the remaining matches of the season – if not all.
“I have been carrying this pain but like most people, I kept brushing it off as nothing serious,” said Akang’o. “It is after the pain failed to subside, and this is after a substantially lengthy while, that I went to the Aga Khan hospital, where an assessment session revealed some hairline fractures on both leg bones,” he said.
“I will be going back to see the doctor, who will advise me on the way forward.” Of the impending spell off the pitch, Akang’o said that it saddens him, especially since he just recently returned to active play, following a malaria attack.
“This is unfortunate news but I am hoping to be back in full swing as soon as it is well taken care of,” he added.
Akang’o has previously played for Tusker Premier League sides Gor Mahia and Tusker FC.
