Ulinzi face Gor in Top 8 final
Defending champions Ulinzi Stars take on Gor Mahia in the final of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Top Eight tournament at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Sunday.
Ahead of the match, Ulinzi’s head coach Sammy Simiyu says he has a feeling that they will be taking home the title for the second year running.
“We are in the finals as champions and the ideal (situation) is that we retain the title,” said Simiyu.
“We have been training well for the match and as long as we don’t fall to unnecessary mistakes, the day will be ours for the taking.”
Simiyu added that his players are looking forward to the match and have promised to do all it takes to pick up the victory.
“The players are looking forward to the match and this has been evidenced by how hard they have been applying themselves in training. I am sure they will give a very good account of themselves, come Sunday.”
Ulinzi made the final after edging out Chemelil Sugar FC and Sony Sugar FC in the quarter and semi-finals respectively.
Gor, on their part, were awarded a walk-over over AFC Leopards in the quarter-finals before beating Tusker FC 4-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
