Koops savours big victory

AFC Leopards head coach Jan Koops could not hide his excitement following their 5-0 humiliation of Thika United joining the players in a celebratory dance at the end of the match.

Speaking of the day’s performance, Koops attributed the win to proper preparation and application of tactics.

“Thika United is a tough team and beating them 5-0 clearly shows that we had prepared very well,” said Koops.

“I can tell you for a fact that we prepared well for the match and that could be seen from the way we took control right from the starting whistle. My players followed the strategy we had put in place and that was well reflected in the final result.”

Regarding their remaining matches this season, Koops said that now that the title is within sight, they would do everything possible to ensure that they get it.

“We are currently in decent form and as long us we maintain winning performances, then we should go all the way,” he added.

“We know other teams will not let us take it away easily but again we do not intend to give it up, so they should brace for a disappointment.”

The match was played on Sunday at Nyayo National Stadium. After the win, AFC remain in the top spot, having widened the gap between them and second-placed Tusker FC to seven points.
