Ochieng hopeful of victory
Nairobi City Stars head coach Gideon Ochieng hopes that his side can even out results more often than they do and thus guarantee safety in the Kenyan Premier League.
The Kawangware outfit has been involved in some crackers this season, which have showed both their good and bad traits.
Wins over AFC Leopards and Thika United have been cancelled out by big loses to Gor Mahia and KCB. Also other matches that they were primed to do well in have not gone their way, meaning that despite all their good work, it has not reflected on the KPL table.
Ochieng hopes that will 11 games to go, his side can get more positive than negative results to ensure another season in the top flight.
“The main issue with our season has been consistency. We have played well in most of our games, but played poorly in others. It has been very contrasting. We have to balance things out, we have to ensure that we have more positive than negative results.”
“There are 11 games to go to the end of the season and we are hoping to work better in that respect.”
They face Chemelil Sugar on Sunday and the coach is confident that they can get something out of the game.
“I am confident in my players’ ability. They have worked hard throughout the season and I have seen it with my own eyes. At times we have been unlucky, while other times brilliant and other occasions poor, that is the way the season goes.”
“At Chemelil, I am sure my players will give their very best. If it will be enough to get us a result, we wait and see, but we are hopeful.”
A win over Chemelil will see them climb up to tenth place on the table.
